Gagan's Aesthetics, Your Dermatology Clinic

Here for a Healthy Skin, Body & Mind.

Dermatology is defined as the science of the skin, hair, and nails. Dermatologists evaluate and manage patients with benign and malignant disorders of these external body areas.

Clinical Dermatology is the specialty of medicine that encompasses the complete range of diseases and conditions of the skin, hair and nails.

Skin, the largest organ, visibly covers more than 90 percent of the body; hair and nails comprise another 8 percent. The average adult has an estimated 10-30 pounds of skin, yet it carries the weight of our entire body, is elastic and maintains its shape. Skin sloughs off 30-40,000 cells per day, renews itself every 4 weeks, and never wears out.

Medically, skin protects the body, wards off infection, maintains housing for blood vessels and sweat glands that regulate temperature, shields from damaging ultraviolet radiation and harmful environmental chemicals and toxins, and it alerts the brain to sensitive touch, smells and impending pain.

Socially, skin identifies age, gender, race, economic status, general overall health; it reflects many emotions, such as growing pale and blushing.

Hair, comprised of keratin, a lifeless substance, is our most visible accessory. It replenishes itself regularly, protects the skin, warms the body, and brows/lashes keep dirt and particles from injuring the eyes. Hair is also an observable indicator of age, gender, race and overall health. Socially, healthy hair is considered to be one of our most important and desired features. With numerous advanced treatments now available, most medical hair conditions can be reversed, if treated early.

Nails are also comprised of keratin. Several nail fungus and infections can be caused by inadequate handwashing, faulty or unsanitary manicures, and pedicures, improper nail trimming and even tight shoes. Diseases such as diabetes and treatments for cancer can harm the nails. Most medical nail conditions can be reversed if treated early.

All diseases and medical conditions associated with skin, hair, and nails are diagnosed and treated at Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery by our highly skilled and trained medical providers. These knowledgeable professionals, from dermatology doctors, plastic surgeons, to Nurse Practitioners and PAs, all exceed the standards and qualifications mandated by their profession.

Additionally, we are extremely proud of the talented aestheticians that provide skincare to our patients. An aesthetician is to a dermatologist what a hygienist is to a dentist. Often they are the first to acknowledge a suspicious condition and refer it immediately to our medical staff for further evaluation.

A number of dermatologic conditions treated by Advanced Dermatology specialists include Skin Infections, Skin Rashes, Acne, Psoriasis, Burns, STDs, Eczema/Atopic Dermatitis, Rosacea, Hair Loss, Nail Disorders, and Pediatric Dermatology. All surgical techniques used in dermatology and dermatopathology (microscopic) are practiced at Gagan's Aesthetics. Rare conditions are treated as well. We want to be your provider of choice in diagnosing the cause of your medical needs, in planning your treatment and achieving your solution.
